One of the oldest and most luxurious hotels in Israel, the King David Hotel enjoys an excellent location and boasts marvelous views of the Old City of Jerusalem
The King David Hotel is one of the most celebrated hotels in Israel and not only because it has been around since 1934, but also because it has plenty of chic. The hotel’s décor is far from modern, with heavy curtains, chandeliers and lush tapestries decorating the rooms and suites. Its un-minimalistic style is precisely what gives the hotel its edge and has made it the number one choice of accommodation for many prominent figures arriving from all over the world to stay in the Holy City of Jerusalem. Many actors, singers, politicians and nobility have passed through these doors when visiting in Israel.
The facilities are naturally quite excellent, the jewel in the crown being a spacious, deep blue outdoor pool surrounded by spacious lawns. The YMCA is just across the street and Yemin Moshe neighborhood a couple of minutes walk. The Old City and center of Jerusalem are also within easy walking distance from the hotel. The Hotel Grill Room suites the taste of most guests, but it does tend to feel a little stuffy and outdated. The King’s Garden Restaurant, which overlooks the Old City and hotel gardens, would be a better choice as regards both surroundings and cuisine.
In short: A glamorous, five-star hotel with an old-fashioned air, which boasts a rich history and a long list of famous guests.
