The Israel Museum, JerusalemFully refurbished in 2010, the Israel Museum, located in Jerusalem, is the largest museum in Israel and displays some impressive works by renowned world-famous artists

Showcasing various contemporary and permanent exhibitions in a wide variety of fields (art, Judaica, archeology, culture and more), the Israel Museum holds the largest collection of art works in Israel. The museum was founded in 1965 and has since managed to establish itself both as a cutting edge museum that hosts interesting and provocative exhibitions and as a family-fun museum, which offers excellent kid activities.

The museum is separated into four wings:

The Fine arts Wing – interdisciplinary collections and exhibitions from around the world, including paintings, prints, installations, sculptures and photographs that explore the link between Western and non-Western arts.

The Archeology Wing – chronologically displays the historical narrative of the Land of Israel, starting in the prehistoric era and showcasing some fascinating ancient findings.

The Jewish Art and Life Wing – introducing the Jewish way of life in various communities across the globe from the Middle Ages to this day.

The Youth Wing – famous for offering especially interesting exhibitions for children, which give them a chance to experience art hands on, the youth wing is an excellent place to spend time with kids while giving them added educational value.

The museum also has an especially impressive sculpture garden that overlooks the beautiful views of Jerusalem and exhibits works by Pablo Picasso, Henry Moor, August Rodin, Menashe Kadishman and others.

Once you have finished with the exhibitions and taken a stroll around the sculpture garden, take a look at the Museum Shop, which has a very impressive selection of items and is definitely worth a visit.

The proximity to the Kenesset and the Bloomfield Science Museum, make it especially convenient to combine all three into one day, assuming you have the energy.
