With numerous vegetable, pickle, cheese, coffee and bread stalls and a growing selection of small, high-quality restaurants, Machne Yehuda has become a real Mecca for food lovers and cooks. You can find almost everything and anything you could imagine in this market: vegetables, meat, fresh fish, pastries, a far eastern grocery store, domestic paraphernalia, traditional cheap restaurants alongside hip, gourmet restaurants and more.

The market is easy to get around and includes two main streets, Machane Yehuda Street and Etz Hahaim Street, that branch into the smaller alleys where additional vegetables stalls, shops and restaurants can be found. Besides the run of the mill produce you will also find a small Fish and Chips restaurant, Mizrahi Café (which serves excellent coffees, fresh pastries and other delights) on Hashezif Street and other more modern sort of places. The famous Azura restaurant, which serves excellent Kobeh soup can be found in the Iraqi Market and in the legendary Morduch restaurant visitors can sample a wide variety of vegetables stuffed with meat and rice and served in a rich tomato sauce. Just outside the market, you will find one of the most successful restaurants in Jerusalem (or Israel, for that matter): Machneyuda. Named after the market, Machneyuda is an original and lively bistro that serves sophisticated local food prepared from the market’s fresh produce.

Try one of the bakeries on Agripas Street it you feel like a taste of something sweet and stock up at the dried fruit stalls inside the market before leaving this enchanting Jerusalamite market.
