Kikar Hachatulot (Hebrew for the 'Cats' Square') is a square located in the Nachalt Shiva neighborhood, in Jerusalem, facing the Atzmaot Park and the Mamila Pool, which boasts a nice little flea and jewelry market
By night, the square is known for being a hang out spot for youngsters roaming the streets of Jerusalem in search of some entertainment, and by day the square boasts a laidback market offering a wide selection of jewelry, clothes and other items. The square also boasts a rare acoustic phenomena - a loud echo is heard if one stands in the very center of the square (a spot which is marked by circles in the flooring). On the 2nd of May, 2004, the laying of the cornerstone for the Museum of Tolerance was celebrated in a special ceremony that was attended by the President of Israel, Israeli ministers, Arnold Schwarzenegger and many other public figures. The museum was supposed to open to visitors in 2010, but the Supreme Court in Israel has lately decided to put the construction on hold, as the designated area used to be a Muslim cemetery.
