Situated right in the center of Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, Azura is a legendary restaurant that offers a wide selection of homemade food
More than a budget restaurant, this place, which has been open for over 25 years, is one of Jerusalem’s real gems and a favorite with many local celebrities. Preparing a variety of Kurdish, Iraqi and Sephardic dishes, which are kept warm in huge pans placed on kerosene stoves, Azura promises all who enter a wholesome and tasty meal. On the menu you will find large meatballs in a fresh tomato sauce, freshly prepared humus, Sephardi chicken stew, Kubbeh soup (ground meat and semolina dumplings in a lemony broth) and many other Middle Eastern delicacies. This authentic place is extremely popular with locals and out of town visitors, which means finding a place to sit and eat might not be that easy. However, good things do come to those who wait. The service is swift and if you come in a small group (1-4 people) you might be seated next to other hungry guests.
In short: An authentic and inexpensive taste of Jerusalem right in the center of the famous Ben Yehuda Market.
