Located near the Dan Hotel, Shipudai Hatikvah restaurant in Eilat offers one of the favorite Israeli budget options – grilled meats wrapped in pita bread or served with a selection of fresh salads and dips
Shipudai Hatikvah (Hebrew for ‘The Skewers of Hope’) is part of a famous chain of restaurants serving a variety of grilled meats. Kebabs, chicken pieces, lamb, entrecote, sweetbreads (NIS24-30 per skewer) – you name it, they’ll grill it. Alongside falafel and shawarma, grilled meats are a favorite, accessible option among Israeli crowds, especially during lunch. Order a skewer or two and eat it sitting down with a selection of mezze, salads and fresh pita bread, or take away a pita or laffa (flat pitta bread that looks like a large wrap) stuffed with meats and salads and enjoy it elsewhere. You will also find a selection of grilled steaks and fish on the menu but it is, on the whole, a good idea to keep it simple with this brand of restaurants and order the less pretentious skewers rather than the fillet Rossini, for example. The interior of the restaurant is very simple and functional, but pleasant enough.
In short: A nice a simple restaurant in Eilat for carnivores to get a quick fix and enjoy a traditional Israeli experience.
